The Appeal
Most 356Bs got the T6 body, but the earliest cars, like this one, got the revisions but based on the earlier body. All of which makes this 1961 Ruetter-built example exceptionally rare.
That it is also in very good order, thanks to an older restoration, also sets it apart. The renovation work to the bodywork and engine deliver a car that carries a lovely gentle patina of age. The interior is said to be original and its burgundy finish is a neat complement to the cream white paintwork. The car currently has its bumpers and wheel trims removed to deliver a more rally-inspired look, but these parts are provided with the car.
The vendor tells us that the car has had just four keepers, the current one since 2009. It was reportedly found in the 1990s with just 13,680kms on the odometer, and now shows 36,000 kms. It has covered only 1,000 kms since the current keeper acquired it. The 1990s restoration is documented in photos and included refurbishing the body and rebuilding the 1.6L air cooled engine.
The car carries ASI registration and current Revisione valid to June 2026.
The vendor says:
“The car has a history as a new vehicle with very few miles since new, with documentation of first registration, only three owners since new, and is a rare car to find in this condition today. A price that is definitely worth seizing.”
