We love a well-worn workhorse as much as the next person, but it's also nice to see a classic Land Rover restored to its former glory.
This 1968 Series IIA 88" was purchased as a project in 2018 and subsequently entrusted to Cross Channel Classics of West Sussex for a comprehensive restoration. The work has been extensive: every panel has been restored and re-galvanised, and the bodywork resprayed in Speedwell Blue, an original British Leyland colour, albeit not one usually seen on a Land Rover.
Mechanically, a refurbished petrol engine has been installed, along with new brakes and a rebuilt gearbox now equipped with overdrive. Inside, new Bolt & Trim seats sourced from Europe, an Exmoor Trim wooden steering wheel, and wooden decking in the rear give the cabin a smart appearance, while a new fabric top has also been fitted.
