The Appeal
With its smart Anglocentric aesthetics and effortless performance, the XJ6 was a sports saloon that the elites favoured in a very big way. Introduced in 1968, they marked a new era for Jaguar, which relied on a global platform for the first time. It marked the next decade of the company's repertoire - not to mention kept the price reasonable.
They became increasingly popular in the USA, where those handsome lines proved particularly appealing. Jaguar was a very real, very tangible presence in California at this time, and was rapidly being picked up by the upper echelons of the Hollywood.
Take this fine example, for instance. Originally owned by the legendary Nancy Sinatra (These Boots Were Made for Walkin') and her husband, Hugh Lambert, this elegant XJ6 S1 remained in their possession until 1975. During their tenure, the legendary George Barris apparently customised it. In 1975, it moved to Santa Monica, then - all the way up in 2018 - it crossed the Atlantic.
Only three former keepers - including its legendary celebrity ownership - low mileage, and a fabulous colour scheme, this XJ6 has since been very well cared for, with gentle, sympathetic updates - including a partial recent retrim. It now comes to us in utterly superb order, ready to impress its lucky new owner and offer your very own piece of celebrity intrigue.
