The Appeal
Penned by the legendary Dante Giacosa as the successor to the Topolino, the Fiat 500 remains one of the most endearing and recognisable city cars ever produced. The Lusso specification brought a touch of refinement to the formula, and are easily the most amicable of the lineage, while maintaining the model's core virtues of utilitarian, no-frills affordability.
This particular car was purchased brand new in May 1972 from a Fiat dealership in Rome by the seller's grandfather, and it has remained within the same family ever since, amounting to 54 years of single-family custodianship. After passing through the grandfather and the seller's aunt, who used it daily in Rome until 1998, the car came to the current seller before being carefully stored from 2000 onwards. In 2015, it was entrusted to a body shop outside Rome for a comprehensive restoration that was completed in 2025. The seller's father, himself a classic car collector and experienced restorer, contributed mechanical work, while a trusted workshop handled the remaining tasks.
Finished in its original Fiat 'Crema' with a tan cognac-style vinyl interior and matching carpets, this 500 Lusso retains its factory design specification throughout.
