The Appeal

There can’t be many examples of the achingly beautiful Jaguar XJ-S that are better than this one. Having covered less than 27,000 miles from new and seemingly having been stored inside for its entire life, the exterior, interior and underside are in stunning and totally original condition. It also has rarity on its side too, as not many of these early 'Pre-HE' cars survived.

The History and Paperwork

First registered in the USA in 1977
Known to have been owned from new for the vast majority of its life by an elderly lady
The car was sold out of estate to a gentleman who bought it just to look at and never really drove it
Imported by the current owner to the UK in September 2022
Registered in the UK in May 2023

The enthusiast owner purchased and imported this wonderful XJ-S with the intention of entering it into classic car shows here in the UK. Due to health reasons, this is no longer possible and so the car is looking for a new home.

During the time of the sale from the estate after the first owner passing, all maintenance records and paperwork were misplaced. As such, there is no documentation verifying the provenance of the vehicle.

The Interior

Beige/brown interior is very original and in superb condition throughout, with even the original Fujitsu car phone remaining in place
Front leather seats are in very good condition with only minor wear and slight discolouring due to age
Rear seats look barely used and are in excellent order
Brown carpets are in fabulous shape with only the floor mats (particularly the passenger front) showing any noticeable signs of wear
Dashboard and centre console bear no major scratches with the top of the dashboard free from cracks and sun damage
Steering wheel, gear lever and handbrake are in excellent condition
Headlining is not sagging in any major way but it does have some age-related marks and is loose in one rear corner
Door cards are virtually spotless and in fantastic shape
Boot area is immaculate and houses a spare wheel and amplifier for the Alpine stereo system

The Exterior

Stunning bodywork is near-perfect with only a tiny dent and a couple of very small scratches on the nearside rear wheel arches as faults
Beautiful bright red paintwork gleams in the sunshine and contrasts very well with the black bumpers and shiny alloys
Alloy wheels have only light corrosion and are not kerbed or damaged
Chrome trim is unmarked
Windscreen, windows and lights are all in very good shape
Bumpers are in good order
Underside is in excellent clean condition with only very minor and light surface corrosion in a few areas

The Mechanics

No mechanical faults reported by the owner - the car has clearly been very well looked after throughout its life
Engine starts on the button, pulls strongly and sounds lovely
The owner notes that the engine would benefit from a thorough service and tune-up to run at its best
Gearbox is smooth and changes up and down without issue
Steering and handling are on point with no knocks or bangs from the suspension
Engine bay is particularly clean, tidy and original
New distributor has been fitted since import
