The Appeal
The Series III was the final, most refined of the leafsprung Land Rover models, combining the rugged simplicity of the earlier Series vehicles with improved driving comfort and reliability. This 1982 example is a refreshingly basic short-wheelbase petrol Series III with the standard hard top. One extra it does have is overdrive - a boon for on-road use.
It's a good, presentable example of the model, which has benefitted from comprehensive refurbishment over the past 18 months, bringing it up to a usable standard. The vendor informs us that the all-important chassis and bulkhead are both rock-solid, and that the Land Rover drives exceedingly well.
