The Appeal

Calling its new saloon the Mulsanne was a firm statement of intent by Bentley. Recalling the daring-do of those Bentley Boys barrelling down Le Mans’ bumpy straight put distance between this more sporting-orientated car and its softer Rolls-Royce sibling.

These are imposing and distinctive cars, even 40 years on, as this car proves. Finished in the rather beguiling shade of Deep Ocean Blue metallic with Cream Marvelon leather interior, it is a highly original car that remains in very good condition.

It is clear that this car’s quintet of keepers have looked after it. They have certainly kept the mileage down too as it now shows just 63,000 miles. The maintenance file is impressively bulky and includes a comprehensively stamped service book and the original build sheets.

The vendor acquired the car a couple of years ago and has continued the tradition of previous keepers. Recent work has included a service in 2024 at 62,371 miles. All four tyres have been replaced with eye-catchign whitewalls and there has been work to the electrics and rocker covers. The a/c received a service and regas earlier this year.

The car comes to market with the transparency of a lengthy MOT to April 2026. If the vendor chooses, that could be the car’s last because from 1st April 2026 it will be eligible for Historic Vehicle status, making it tax, ULEZ and MOT exempt.
