The Appeal
Serving as a successor to the legendary Alfasud and powered by the same four-cylinder boxer engine, the Alfa Romeo 33 Cloverleaf is one of the most characterful sporting saloons of the 1980s. The Quadrifoglio Verde badge, Alfa Romeo's hallmark of sporting intent, denotes the most desirable variant in the range.
This 1986 example is described as completely original, retaining its matching colours and numbers along with period details such as the original gear knob, radio, and even the Alfa Romeo-branded pen and torch tucked into the passenger door pocket. Purchased in early 2022 from Colombo Classic in Spain, the car benefited from a substantial mechanical overhaul prior to the current owner's acquisition and is reported to have arrived in very good condition. Since then, it has been stored in a climate-controlled garage at 18 degrees and has reportedly never been driven in the rain.
The vendor informs us that the car runs beautifully, starting first time and delivering the characteristic rasp from its boxer engine that makes these cars so rewarding to experience. Fitted with four new Pirelli tyres, this is an appealing opportunity to acquire a well-sorted and lovingly kept example of an increasingly collectable Alfa Romeo.
