Rolls-Royce’s Silver Spur was a lengthened version of the Silver Spirit. It featured a 6.75-litre V8 engine and three speed automatic transmission.
With its striking white paint scheme and matching white leather interior, this represents a fantastic opportunity to indulge a taste for 1980s excess.
Sold new in 1987 at a cost of £71,680 to a ‘HRH Princess Magrahbi’ by Jack Barclay of London.

The Interior

The original owner of this Silver Spur clearly enjoyed the crisp, clean aesthetic of a white interior. The sumptuous seating is upholstered in white leather, which continues onto the door cards. Even the headlining was specified on the original order form as being ‘white hide’.
The vendor states that the original leather is in good overall condition but recommends that it would benefit from being cleaned in places such as the driver’s seat squab and the headlining. The front passenger seat suffers from an intermittent electrical issue.
Highly polished burr veneer on the doors and dashboard contrasts pleasantly against the white leather upholstery, the dashboard itself being well appointed with many features which were still considered to be luxuries in 1987. Air conditioning – reportedly working well – electrically adjustable seats with a memory function and cruise control.
A modern radio has been fitted, with an accompanying electric aerial. And the interior of the boot is said to be in excellent condition, with the spare wheel and tool kit still present.

The cool white theme continues with the paintwork, which was specified as ‘Acrylic White’. This gives the car a confident, imposing road presence.
The vendor describes the overall condition of the paintwork as being in good condition but not perfect with a few scuffs and blemishes as expected, but no rust present in the wheel arches. The chromework is described as good.
The car has reportedly never been welded, the underside being described as in good overall condition. A decent amount of tread remains on the tyres and the wheels are smartly finished with their original chrome and colour-matched hubcaps.
The Mechanics

This car is fitted with Rolls-Royce’s incredibly long-lived 6.75-litre V8 engine – this first appeared in 1968 and was still being fitted to cars into the 2020s – and is said to still be running smoothly and quietly.
The gearbox and torque converter were replaced in 1999 at 75,000 miles, and the odometer is now showing only 99,000 miles. The vendor informs us that the suspension spheres were replaced in August 2021 and that a heavy duty battery was fitted at this time.
Time could be spent cleaning and detailing the engine bay to a high standard, but the seller reports that there are no unusual mechanical noises to worry about.
