The Appeal
Designed by Karmann, the MK1 Golf Cabrio GTI was such a success that it outlasted the hatchbacks by a decade - and nobody could tell you the Golf MK1 was a slouch in sales charts. To this day, it's a remarkably solid package - Giugiaro-penned lines, a practical four-seater cabin and, of course, that revvy 1.8L 110bhp GTi engine all coming together to create a truly brilliant hybrid between hot-hatch and roadster.
This particular 1987 was built in 1987, and in 2021 was treated to a full restoration by the well-regarded SuperSpray Bodyshop. Following this, it's driven a scant 2,000 miles - so still looks in fine order, with a new soft top and reupholstered seats as well as that fresh coat of paint.
Golf Cabrios often come to us well-used, so this beautifully finished car is quite the opportunity!
