The Appeal
Since its introduction over 50 years ago, the Range Rover has always been the first choice for those looking for a luxury vehicle with true go-anywhere ability. Initially offered in 1970 as a fairly utilitarian 2-door vehicle, over the subsequent years the Range Rover evolved into the supremely capable and well-appointed machine that we have today.
We are very pleased to offer here for auction a lovely example of a 1989 Range Rover Vogue in the rare and attractive shade of Portofino Red. Originally spending its first 25 years in the more favourable climes of Jersey, this Range Rover was subsequently imported to the UK in 2014.
Whilst under its current ownership since 2018, this particular example has benefited from mechanical and cosmetic attention where required and now presents in a very sound and sorted condition throughout.
With its classic genre-defining lines and burbling V8 engine , the original Range Rover truly is the definitive luxury off-roader.

The Interior
- With a fabulous elevated seating position offering a superb view of your surroundings, riding in a classic Range Rover always feels like a special experience
- Presented here in a great condition commensurate with its low mileage, this particular Range Rover has clearly been cherished throughout its life
- Covered in soft and supremely comfortable grey velour, the seats of this particular example appear in an excellent state and without any signs of significant wear or damage
- Complemented by smart grey carpets throughout which also appear in an excellent condition
- Benefiting from replacement whilst under current ownership, the cream headlining of this Range Rover also presents in an exceptional unmarked state
- Upfront the ‘hardtop’ dashboard presents very well and in a lovely original and undamaged condition - the only concession to modernity being the fitment of a more modern Blaupunkt stereo system
- Interior light wood door trims noted to be in a complete and glossy condition, with only a few areas of cracking in the lacquer apparent
- Overall a really nice original interior which is presented in an enviable condition
The Exterior

- Presenting in an overall fine exterior condition, with only a few minor blemishes noted as per the photographs

- Outer aluminium and steel body panels present generally well without any signs of significant corrosion or damage
- Original 16 inch 3 spoke alloy wheels are in a nice condition and shod in matching Goodyear tyres with good tread
- External trim and lighting presenting in a complete and original condition
- Exterior glass also appears excellent and without any significant signs of delamination
- Handy tow hitch fitted with power hook-up
The Mechanics
- Fabulous 3528cc fuel-injected Rover V8 providing a superb under stressed burbling V8 soundtrack
- Benefiting from significant work whilst under current ownership including
- June 2018 extensive mechanical work undertaken by renowned specialists Kingsley Cars including replacement of all four suspension dampers, rear brake hoses, front discs and pads, front radius arm bushes, front swivels and seal kit and refinishing of air box and A, B and C posts at a total cost in excess of £4500
- October 2020 overhaul of power-steering system to correct self-centring action
- July 2021 - replacement of internal seatbelts
- Reported to be in a very good structural condition underneath and free of any significant corrosion or damage - consistent with the car’s excellent MOT history
- Out on the road we are told that the Range Rover performs very well and without any concerns, delivering its V8 power smoothly and changing nicely through its gears.
