The Attractions
The Defender is renowned for its versatility and unparalleled ability to cope with the toughest trails and heaviest use. There are not many off-road vehicles that are as iconic and well-known - and this is at least partly due to the fact that for decades it has been adopted around the world by countless public and private bodies, agencies and operators to bring relief or operate in particularly hard-to-reach areas.
This Defender is a truly unique specimen, originally used by the Civil Defence in Bolzano, and features a rather unusual set-up. Although it no longer sports its original livery and the sirens have been removed, it still has an original set of nautical and aeronautical instruments, and was most recently used by the Alpe de Siusi Park Rangers. Completely restored and repainted, it is a very interesting example of a very usable modern classic - with a very interesting history.
