In 2015, as part of its 60th birthday celebrations, the world-famous biker’s ‘bible’, Motorcycle News (or MCN) put out its definitive list of the 60 greatest bikes of all-time.
At the top of the list was the Ducati 916 – the 1994 V-Twin superbike that became the poster boy of the superbike era. Honda had its Fireblade and Suzuki its GSX-R, but as brilliant as the Japanese bikes were they couldn’t match the Ducati for its sheer desirability. It was achingly pretty – a two-wheeled supermodel – yet at the same time was ridiculously fast. It still is today – devilishly so.

Overall, the 916 is in excellent order with no discernible damage to the body, fairing or frame other than a few very small scratches. It retains its original decals and the chassis and engine numbers match.
The vendor reports that the 916 is a terrific bike to ride and is still extremely quick. It starts well and sounds amazing thanks to its twin Termignoni sports exhausts. The engine is a four-valve V-Twin based on Ducati’s World Superbike Championship-winning Desmoquattro engine, featuring its desmodromic (rotating) valve activation from which the unit gets its name.
This is one of the most famous sports bikes of all-time, which makes it instantly desirable, But more than that, you’re unlikely to find better. It’s a genuine 9,500-mile example that is currently owned by a true sports bike enthusiast and has been owned by similar people for all of its life.
It’s one for the committed collector and undoubtedly one of the best examples of the truly iconic 916 on the market right now.
