The Appeal
Sensible is not a word usually associated with TVR, for which we can be heartily thankful. But with the Chimaera, the firm did manage to blend its renowned individuality with something a little more civilised. The result - an effortless sports car in the traditional of long distance British two seaters like the Austin Healey 3000.
Rust-resistance fibreglass bodywork, rumbly V8s, a plethora of wood and leather and a clever ‘Surrey Top’ type convertible roof make these cars excellent classic purchases. Here is a very good example, a low mileage car finished in the popular blue metallic over cream leather colour combination.
TVR offered various engine options for the Chimaera. This one is the 4litre ‘HC’ with the High Compression version of the trusty Rover motor. This version was factory rated at 280bhp, a healthy 40bhp hike over the standard 4litre model.
It has clearly been looked after, the low mileage verified by MOTs and history file and recent work including a new mohair hood, full respray and all-important work to the chassis outriggers. To underline the point there is a long, advisory-free MOT to July 2025. Ready to enjoy.
