The Appeal
While its competitors rushed to capitalise on the two seater sports car market rebooted by the MX5, Mercedes-Benz did something clever. The R170 SLK’s name set out its stall: this was an agile sports car but one imbued with all the qualities of the bigger SL. That meant quality, comfort and relaxation.
There was also a very clever folding hard top which made this stylish car perfect whatever the weather. Of the wide range of engine options, the supercharged M111 2.3litre 4cyl engine has recently been the pick up collectors because it mixes decent 185bhp urge with durability and economy.
If all that sound appealing then this SLK230 will be a treat. It is a very low mileage example finished in classic Brilliant Silver and in very good condition. Regularly serviced it comes to market with a raft of recent work, including another service and refresh work to the interior and bodywork. A long MOT, with no advisories, to April 2025 underlines the impression provided by the photographs.
