The Appeal
The Subaru Impreza RB5 stands as one of the most celebrated homologation specials of the late 1990s, created to commemorate Richard Burns' success in the World Rally Championship. Tuned by Prodrive and limited to just 400 examples, the RB5 WR Sport represented the pinnacle of Subaru's turbocharged rally-bred performance for the UK market, combining the iconic 2.0-litre turbocharged Boxer engine with a host of performance upgrades and distinctive styling cues.
Our car, number 127 of the 400 produced, is believed to be one of only 90 remaining, making it an increasingly rare sight on British roads.
The current owner has maintained the car with regular servicing and oil changes, and has recently fitted a new cam belt and pulleys, addressing one of the key maintenance items for these engines. The car has been sensibly returned to standard specification, save for a three-inch stainless steel catback exhaust system, and benefits from a genuine P1 rear spoiler. The paintwork presents in good condition for its age, with some bubbling noted on the driver's rear section above the bumper corner, while the interior remains in clean original condition.
