The Appeal
The 996 was the Porsche that everybody was talking about. This was a significant step-change in Stuttgart's formula - the sudden arrival of a water-cooled engine (to meet tightening emissions standards) and an altogether more modern styling package.
Many Porsche purists decried these changes, but the car still retained that incredible charisma one would expect from a 911, and in abundance. Lightweight, agile, strong and stiff - with a great turn of speed. It's no wonder that even the die-hards have re-evaluated them as one of the best of the marque's 21st-century output.
This particular 2001 convertible is quite the package, boasting a Metropole Blue leather interior and having enjoyed significant investment, including a comprehensive £11,000 overhaul and a replacement Porsche engine.
