The Appeal
The R230 SL55 is a car to suit your mood. There’s the raucous, exciting side, brought to you by its grunty 5.4L 510bhp V8, and there’s the more serene, cossetting aspect, provided by all the traditional attributes you’d expect of the ‘SL’ nameplate.
We suspect from the condition that this low-mileage example has tended to be used more in the latter mode than the former. Certainly, that is true of the current keeper, who bought the car in 2023 to add to his large collection. He has only covered 250 miles since, treating the car to storage in his heated, dehumidified unit along with his other vehicles.
Despite the sparing use, he has expended around £4,000 on its maintenance, entrusting it to a local Mercedes-Benz main dealer to attend to any minor issue and undertake servicing. The invoices can be checked in the photos and include a recent service prior to sale.
Classically finished in popular Obsidian Black with matching leather, it is a well-kept car that comes with the added reassurance of a lengthy, advisory-free MOT October 2025.
The vendor says:
“A sure-footed 'future classic' or a daily driver for someone wth zeal and panache. The supercharged engine is one of the finest Kompressor from Germany, over 500bhp.”
