The Appeal
The R230 SL600 sat at the very top of Mercedes-Benz's roadster range, powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 producing 493 HP and 590 lb-ft of torque - a powerplant shared in principle with the Maybach. With its electrohydraulic retractable aluminium hardtop, Active Body Control suspension and a level of refinement that few grand tourers could match, the SL600 represented the pinnacle of open-air luxury from Stuttgart. Originally retailing at well over $100k in the United States, these were rare and expensive machines when new, and they remain sought after today.
This 2004 example is finished in Alabaster White over grey hand-fitted Nappa leather with a Designo Alcantara Alpaca Grey headliner and burred walnut veneer trim — a striking and elegant combination.
