The Appeal
TD Cars are a lesser-known car manufacturer who formed in Australia and later moved to Malaysia. The inception of TD Cars was built around the idea of producing pre-war inspired vehicle with newer components. They would take inspiration from MG's TD and use original MG jigs, dies and moulds combined with a more modern Japanese drivetrain.
TD Cars offered the Gatsby and Silverstone models, the latter of which comes equipped with Toyota's 2-litre 3S-FE engine, giving for a pokey 130 bhp. In keeping with their ethos, the Silverstone also offers disc brakes on all four corners, a vast improvement over drum brakes of the pre-war era. The suspension assemblies have been improved over the years giving for a softer ride as well as air conditioning and improved cooling via a double core radiator. With a curb weight under 1 tonne, the Silverstone is sure to evoke smiles for all involved, whether it be the driver or a passer by admiring its beautiful styling!

- First registered 01/08/2014
- Produced new 2006 in Malaysia
- Imported to the UK in 2014 directly to Bespoke Performance of Ware, the UK distributor for TD Cars
- Selling as doesn't get used often enough
- Two previous owners with the current owner purchasing the vehicle on 21/04/2017
- Wind deflectors fitted to windscreen
- Full and half tonneau cover included as well as a full size indoor cover, black and silver show plates
- 2 sets of keys included with vehicle

- Minimal signs of wear, namely some light marking to the drivers door card

- Wooden dashboard remains in very good condition, some very small areas starting to show some wear; around the glovebox but only noticeable when inspecting closely
- Desirable air conditioning fitted as standard and reported to function
- Seat belts present and functioning for both seats
- Green carpets present throughout and in excellent condition, current owner has fabricated foam floor mats for both front footwells
- Original stereo head unit and CD player present and functioning
- Gorgeous and valuable Moto-Lita steering wheel fitted and in very good condition
- Storage cubby and parcel shelf remain in excellent condition, jack located in the storage cubby and conveniently wrapped in sponge to minimise any rattling when driving
- Eye catching fold down luggage rack fitted to rear of vehicle with full size spare wheel mounted behind, both remain in excellent condition
The Exterior

- Minimal paint chips to the front wings in expectance with the low mileage
- Current owner has fitted twin fog lights not only adding functionality but also a touring aesthetic

- Original TD chrome wire spoke alloys remain in very good condition
- Glass, brightwork and badges remain in excellent condition overall
- Full tonneau cover remains in excellent condition with some small superficial marking present
- Chrome grille remains in excellent condition along with a quirky set of badges mounted to the front bumper
- Bonnet louvres all remain in excellent condition and free from any damage
- Convertible hood present and reported to function, owner reports it is in a fair condition
- Desirable roll bar fitted as standard giving for better safety in the event of a roll
The Mechanics
- Compact and reliable Toyota 2-litre 3S-FE engine gives for an impressive 130 bhp
- Engine starts well and runs smoothly, free from any knocking, bangs or smoke
- Fan and radiator remain in very good condition
- Desirable drilled disc brakes on all four corners
- Current owner reported to replace the battery during the last winter and has fabricated a foam guard for the top of the battery to protect against rubbing on the bonnet
- Fuel pipes replaced, brake system bled and front pads greased during last noted service in late 2017 at 1,790 miles
- Current owner has reportedly carried out servicing between 2017 to present day
- Desirable air conditioned example, reported to function as expected
- Low mileage example with the engine only just run in, gives for a lovely air intake sound on acceleration
- Current owner reports the reversing light is not currently functioning
- Engine bay and underside remain in an excellent, used condition
- Vehicle reported to accelerate and stop well and in a straight line
Summary
TD Cars had one goal in mind when creating modern renditions of MG's legendary TD range, refinement. This example of their 2000 Silverstone is a true testament to their work. Simply put, it remains in excellent condition overall and you could easily be mistaken for its age when inspecting. Covering less than 4000 miles from new, the current owner is reluctantly selling but has ensured the vehicle has remained in tip top condition.
