The Appeal

The Aero 8 was a brilliant rethink of the Morgan sports car. It combined the firm’s renowned traditional, hand-crafted cues with aluminium construction and a thoroughly modern, BMW-derived drivetrain.

At launch the car’s performance and nimble, tactical capabilities were somewhat overshadowed by the ‘distinctive’ headlight design. The Series 3 firmly sorted that, restoring a classic Morgan front end along with some other neat styling tweaks.

With just 200 made, finding a Series 3 can be a little like hunting for a needle in a haystack.

All of which makes this beautiful example especially appealing. It looks very smart in Bentley Silver Lake Blue metallic. There is a Yarwood dark blue leather interior accented with pale ash wood and engine-turned aluminium. The impression is enhanced by the correct six-spoke deep-dish factory alloys and a side-exit exhaust, which was a £1,000 option.

The car has had just two keepers in its life, the current one purchasing it from Berrybrook in 2014. Throughout that time it has been carefully maintained, the 12 service stamps plus additional service invoices all from Morgan main dealers. It was recently fitted with a new clutch. The attention belies the very sparing use - it has covered less than 40,000 miles from new. The advisory-free MOT to December 2025 reinforces the provenance.

The Aero 8 is one of the best and most distinctive British sports cars of recent times. This one is well specified, well looked after and in great order.
