The Appeal
The continued popularity of the original Defender, even seven years after Land Rover ceased producing them, shows that these plucky off-roaders will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

The Interior
- Looks to be original, untouched and quite presentable
- The upholstery remains in really good order, with little wear although there is some staining to the bolsters
- A cubby between the seats provides cup holders and a useful storage bin
- The headlining and sun visors are now a little tired
- Retains its floor mat set with rubber overmats which remain in nice shape
- The dashboard does not appear to have sustained any damage of note
- Pioneer stereo fitted
- All of the instrumentation and switchgear presents well
- In the rear, the are a few scratches to the firewall and sides from loading
- Retains its original rubber matting and tie-down points
- A very usable load space, making this a really practical vehicle
The Exterior
- Looks purposeful with its aftermarket enhancements
- The blue paintwork remains in good order with the odd blemish here and there as well as some slight fading in places
- Fitted with off-road accessories including a Safari snorkel, ‘Superwinch’, aftermarket bumper, roof rack and oversized alloy wheels
- Shod with BF Goodrich white letter All-Terrain tyres, the alloys match the white roof
- There are a smattering of small dents, but nothing significant
- We couldn’t see any electrolytic corrosion in any of the usual areas
- Underneath, besides some light surface rust, the chassis appears very sound
- The bulkhead and rear crossmember look to be in really nice shape
- Equipped with a towbar and trailer electrics
The Mechanics
- 2.4-litre, four cylinder TDCI engine
- Six-speed manual gearbox
- We understand that this Land Rover continues to drive really well in all gears
- It’s staggering how capable these vehicles are over the most challenging of terrain
