The Appeal
Designed in collaboration with Giorgietto Giugiaro and featuring Subaru’s capable H6 engine, the innovative Alcyone SVX proved both accomplished and unconventional in equal measure. Its aircraft-inspired and frankly bizarre ‘window within a window’ design gave it striking lines and the interior was no less space-age in appearance.
We’re delighted to offer this 1993 example, which looks to be in really good condition for its age. Equipped with an automatic gearbox, STI alloy wheels constant all-wheel drive, this is a fabulous sports coupé and in our eyes, a definite modern classic
The History and Paperwork
- Current Swedish technical inspection
- While there’s no documentation to confirm the car’s servicing record, the vendor informs us that it has been well maintained over the years
- Imported to Sweden from Germany on 3rd November 2005
The Interior
- All the seat upholstery presents well for its age, with no significant wear
- There are of course some small marks to the seats, but certainly nothing especially noticeable
- There are a few nicks on the outer edge of the driver’s seat bolster
- All the carpeting looks in reasonably good order, as does the headlining
- The dashboard is finished in a mixture of suede and veneers which looks great
- We’re informed that all the cabin electrics work correctly
- Equipped with air conditioning
- Usable boot space presented in good order
- Only moderate wear to the controls
The Exterior
- Finished in Pearl White and black
- STI alloy wheels finished in gold and in good overall condition
- All the vinyl lettering appears in good order, as do the badges
- Smart paintwork, with just the odd blemish ad you’d expect to see with a car of this age
- There are a few small scuffs around the corners, but nothing excessive
- The bodywork looks to be really straight
- Equipped with a sunroof
- All the glass looks to be in nice condition, as do the light lenses
The Mechanics
- 3.3-litre H6 petrol engine
- Four-speed automatic gearbox
- Said to be driving well, with no issues to report
- The gearbox is apparently smooth and the brakes bring the car to a stop in a straight line
- The vendor reports that it accelerates strongly and handles well
- The tyres are said to be almost new and so in very good order
Summary
These curious Subarus are becoming more and more collectable in recent years and it’s easy to see why.
This smart example has clearly been well cared for over the years and we’re sure it shall continue to impress all those who drive and catch sight of it for years to come.
