This matching numbers Beetleback is one of 43 known survivors, additionally its one of a hand full known to still carrying their original Carbodies coachwork body number 3843. Car Number 13837, was first registered in Birmingham in July 1931.

In 1952, The Autocar magazine used this very car for testing purposes—a nice addition, surely making 13837 one of the most desirable of all TK Beetlebacks available on the open market today. 

The history file, which accompanies the car, gives details of ownerships, work done over the years and also contains a lovely photograph of the car, when almost new, in Woolacombe High Street in 1931, showing its original grey paintwork.

Various mechanical improvements have been carried out over the years—an engine rebuild in the mid 1980’s, repairs to the original ash frame, replacement of the steering shaft per the Alvis Club recommendation, a radiator re-core in 2014, an engine top end rebuild, with parts supplied by Red Triangle and just recently, a re-paint body finished in deep green with black wings, making 13837 highly desirable motor car.

Thanks to the historic MOT certificates in the file, the car is shown to have covered less than 8000 miles since 1966. It now drives extremely well and is ready for club events or simply the pleasure of the open road in a period correct sporting open car.
