motodrome offer this 1971 Ford Mustang 302 V8 Coupe automatic, finished in metallic maroon with black interior.
Spec wise, including:
• Power steering
• Power brakes with front discs
• 16in American Racing wheels with a matching set of near-new Avon tyres
• Top-tint windscreen
Underbonnet, as is the tradition with American cars she’s really well-dressed, and she runs a 302 cu in V8 matched to the C4 3-speed automatic transmission, but is also fitted with Holley 4-barrel carburettor on Edelbrock manifold, strut braces, Edelbrock air filter, MSD ignition system, Hedman headers, and Edelbrock rocker covers. It certainly performs with more alacrity than a standard 302 F-code engine, which is how it started life.
Intriguingly, there’s a nitrous oxide tank fitted in the boot, but this doesn’t seem to be currently connected.
Interior-wise, it’s fitted with an aftermarket steering wheel, centre cubby box, rev counter and other extra gauges including water temperature, oil pressure and vacuum, and a more modern Sony radio/ CD (which we haven’t tested, primarily because the engine sounds so good)
This one was imported into the UK in 1981, and comes with substantial history from the early 90’s onwards when it underwent body and interior restoration, and a full engine rebuild. It was stored in a controlled environment for 10 years 2011-21 when the last owner recommissioned it, including new tyres all round and all new fluids,
It’s odometer reading is 5000 miles, which is clearly incorrect as it’s doubtless been -round the clock’ and so is probably 105000m really. Nevertheless, we’re selling it as ‘mileage known incorrect’ to avoid any misunderstandings.
It is, in my opinion, a really nice-driving Mustang, with plenty of power and thunderous sound. 30 years on from it’s restoration, whilst it drives superbly and has a decent interior, it’s body and paintwork now have quite a few blemishes, and hence there’s room for improvement for the new owner as time and funds allow. It’s perfectly useable ‘as is’ though
