The Appeal
The A was a new dawn for the Abingdon motoring minnow. Syd Enever’s aerodynamic body cleverly disguised the fact that much was borrowed from the earlier T-Types, but that was good news for buyers as it meant the A was equally rugged and reliable.
Most of these cars went to the USA when new as part of the ‘export or die’ drive, and this car was one of them. Originally finished in black, it returned to the UK in 1998 and was restored some years ago to classic sports car red. It is in fine condition, a reflection of the love and care of its two UK keepers. The paintwork and chromework shine, and the beige leather cabin has a lovely, gentle patina.
We are told that the car runs and drives ‘beautifully.’ Recent work includes replacing the brake cylinders.
Early 1500s retain those pure Enever lines, and this car looks a treat for enthusiasts of these popular British classics.
