The Appeal

Turbocharging was all the rage during the 1980s. Manufacturers were realising that they could extract drastically more performance from their existing engines, simply by adding one of these clever little devices to recycle the exhaust gasses.

MG did just that with the popular Metro city car. Adding a turbo extracted an impressive 93 horsepower and 112 mph top speed, making it a worthy advisory for the Peugeot 205 GTI and Ford Fiesta XR2.

This 1987 example, originally from Portugal, has been owned by just two registered keepers and has covered just 61,000 km. It remains in its original mechanical condition, retaining the factory-spec turbo setup. With a recent respray in its original white, it presents beautifully and presents a rare opportunity to own a criminally underrated classic hot hatch.
