The Appeal

The Azure continues to be a popular choice amongst classic Bentley fans thanks to its luxurious interior, smooth yet powerful 390bhp turbocharged V8 and commanding presence. Despite its size though the big Bentley is surprisingly easy to drive, allowing you to waft along at your leisure whilst taking in all of the admiring glances from passers by.

Eye-wateringly expensive when new, a decent Azure can be had for a fraction of its original cost nowadays and this particularly handsome convertible, resplendent in its Midnight Blue Metallic paintwork over Magnolia leather interior, still cuts quite the dash.

Not only does it look good but it also appears to be mechanically sound and fastidiously maintained and comes with full Bentley service history from new with the original stamped service book and detailed invoices. It's a low mileage example too, having covered just 44K since new.

As far as second hand Bentleys go you could do a hell of a lot worse than this '97 Azure then. An honest, usable example it's a rare beast to boot, with only 243 right-hand drive examples ever built so if you're after a relatively inexpensive modern classic Bentley in decent shape that you won't be scared to actually drive then call off the search.

The Condition

The car is generally in great condition overall but is beginning to show some moderate signs of age in places
The paintwork presents well with only some light marks here and there to note
Appears to be free from any major corrosion
All body panels seem to be damage-free and the car's shut lines look to be straight
The convertible roof presents well and benefits from a new rear window
The Original 17" Azure alloy wheels are in good shape but do carry a few small marks in places and all centre caps are present and correct
Tyres are mismatched
The underneath looks to be solid and free from damage but there is some light surface corrosion to some of the suspension components
The engine bay presents well overall although there are some scuffs to the top cover
The interior is wearing well but does carry a few minor marks and scuffs commensurate with the car's age
No evidence of any water ingress
The seats do not appear to have sagged and look to be free from any major issues
The door cards and dashboard are intact
The beautiful wood work presents well and appears free from any serious blemishes
Original radio/cassette with multi CD plus car phone
A new speedometer was fitted at 8,000 miles by Jack Barclay Bentley
The boot area is fully carpeted and in good shape although the lining of the boot lid is starting to come away
