The Appeal
Caterham’s Seven range falls into two categories: models that lean towards a Chapman-esque simplicity. And others that aim to maximise the performance from the basic Seven formula.
The Sprint was launched in 2017 to firmly feed fans of the former. Just 60 were available, all designed to replicate the original’s aesthetics and equipped with a zingy Suzuki three-pot turbocharged 660cc motor that revs to 7,700rpm. It wasn’t that powerful, but as the name suggests, the Sprint was designed to deliver thrills in different ways.
This is car number 25, which Trumpton fans will be pleased to note is finished in Camberwick Green. There are also cream steels and a bright red leather cabin. There is even a period-appropriate plate to fool the uninitiated. It is an exceptionally well preserved car but then it has only covered 1,038 miles from new.
The current keeper has recently added a £800 detachable wheel - the original is included with the car - and replaced the fuel pump. The car was serviced at the same time.
This is a joyous classic sports car that is as rare as it is pretty. With advisory-free MOT to April 2026, this little road rocket offers entertainment by the bucketload.
