The Appeal
When the Austin Healey 3000 hit the end of the road, MG picked up the baton, evolving the Healey’s C-Series 2.9L engine and dropping it under the bonnet of Don Hayter’s sleek two seater. The MGC was only available for two years and in recent ones is emerging from the shadows. Collectors are increasingly seeking out these cars, valuing their Healey connection and relaxed, long-legged GT appeal.
This 1969 CGT is finished in eye-catching period-correct Pale Primrose Yellow and features a large Webasto-style folding sunroof. It has been with the current keeper since 1984. It is in very good, usable condition, with a few light signs of age to note, but nothing that looks in need of immediate or significant attention. We’re told that the engine and gearbox have been rebuilt and the car was last serviced in early 2023. Other work includes a full rewire and new exterior lights. The dashboard has also been renewed.
The C adds the grunt and soundtrack to turn MG’s perennial classic into a proper GT. This pretty car is a chance to discover the model’s multifold charms.
