Launched in 1970 the Triumph Stag has gone on to symbolise the perfect English classic car. Thanks to its gorgeous looks and power V8 under the bonnet it comes with bucket loads of curb appeal. This example appears to be presented in good overall condition, from the engine bay to the interior this Stag has been well looked after. If you’re looking for a proper classic to add to your collection, then look no further than this great example. Stepping inside this Stag is like stepping back in time, furnished with a wood veneer dash and comfortable leather seats it is like no modern interior. So come with us as we step back in time and delve deeper into the interior of this Stag. Let’s first look at the lovely dark tan leather seats that are fitted in the front. These large and comfortable-looking seats are presented in very good condition indeed, the leather-wrapped over the foam is free of rips or tears. You might notice that some of the side piping has popped out from the driver's bolster, but this should not detract from the overall condition of these front seats. It was also mentioned that the front seatbelts have recently been replaced too. This condition is very much mirrored by the rear bench seat as well, they look as if they have never been sat in, they are that good. 

To match the tan leather seats the door cards and carpets are trimmed in a similar colour. These two important elements are also presented in good condition.  Up front, the wood veneer dashboard looks wonderful and represents all that is characterful about a British classic. Set into this dash there are a few mod-cons that will make the car feel newer than it is. For instance, just behind the over-drive gearstick are two rocker switches that control the electric windows. 

The Motorola radio is also said to still work, this will perfectly soundtrack any drive that you may take this Stag on. The most interesting part of this Stags interior is the various roof configurations you can enjoy. In the cooler months, you can keep the colour-matching hardtop on. This will keep any drafts out and also the glorious English weather. Should the weather start to improve then you can easily remove this hardtop with two people quickly and store it carefully. At this point, you have a beautiful top-down convertible to enjoy those brief encounters with the sun. Should the weather turn all British you can simply erect the fabric roof which is housed neatly behind the rear seats under a hard tonneau cover. All of these roof configurations will give you a multi-purpose classic car that you can enjoy in any weather.

In the boot, you’ll find a well-trimmed carpet section big enough for several weekend bags. Under the floor, you’ll find a jack and spare wheel should you so need them. Overall, the interior of this Stag is in very good condition. You can excuse the few small areas that may need work thanks to its overall condition. 

Styled by Giovanni Michelotti the Triumph Stag is a beautiful and elegant-looking classic that everyone can appreciate. As this example has been looked after well over its recent years it is ready to be shown at club events over the summer.  If we take a look at the main part of the exterior, the paint, we can see that it is in very good condition all-round the car. There is one small area of isolated bubbling/cracking to the metal just behind the nearside rear wheel. You will, however, be hard-pressed to find any more areas of bubbling/corrosion on the paint. There is some slight pitting/corrosion present on the front and rear chrome bumpers, but there are no obvious large holes that would require immediate attention. There is also one small dent on the rear bumper.  

The Stag sits on a nice set of black and silver alloy wheels. Shod in a nice matching set of Goodyear Eagle tyres you can get and enjoy this car in the knowledge that there is some decent rubber on each corner. 

Unlike other Stags this car comes with a solid hard top that can be placed on for the colder months or if you wish to have more of a coupe body style. This roof section is in very good condition but there does appear to be one small chrome flashing missing just under the rear window. 

With the hard top removed, you can erect the soft top that is stowed underneath a nice tonneau cover. It is quickly put up and secured in place at the front like the hard top. The only difference with this soft top is that we couldn’t get it to latch at the rear, but this could just require some use or a little bit more force to get it to latch. The fabric roof is in good condition on the whole with only a few pinholes in the fabric that might allow water in should it start to rain. 

Overall, the exterior of this timeless classic is in very good condition. When you consider its age, it has been preserved very well for your ownership. Wherever you wish to take this car, it will always garner some attention.

Not only was the Stag designed to be a beautiful piece of automotive design, but its secondary task was to be a competent sports tourer able to compete with the best at the time of production. With this in mind, the Triumph engineers fitted a 3.0l V8 engine under the bonnet. This example appears to be in very good machinal condition. On the day of the photos, the car was taken off of trickle charge and it fired straight up after de-activating the immobiliser. It then pulled out of the garage and manoeuvred into place ready for the photos. As you can see from some of the interior shots the car has good oil pressure, and the battery also appears to be charging when the car is running. 

Under the bonnet is nice and clean with no large or obvious oil staining to the visible top portion of the engine. The engine powering this Stag was replaced in 2008 and has since performed well. It could possibly do with either a carburettor tune or just a good run to get everything up to temperature and lubricated.  What makes this Stag even more appealing is the manual gearbox that is mated to the V8. Offering four forward speeds with an additional overdrive it will be a fun and engaging drive but also a capable cruiser out on the motorways. 

If you’re after a sleek and beautiful classic car for the summer, then this Stag will be a perfect addition to your driveway. However, thanks to its hard top this car could quite as easily be used in the colder months with peace of mind. 

Having been looked after very well by the current and previous owners this Stag is now in great condition for its age and is just waiting for you to hop in and drive away.
