A fine example of the X100 run out model with the bigger bumpers and sill mouldings
Featuring all original panels and a sublime rust-free condition
Boasting proper sports car performance courtesy of the 4.2L supercharged V8
The Appeal
The XKR was the high-performance derivative of the already popular XK8, Jaguar’s much vaunted XJS successor. The original XKR joined the range in 1998, dialling up the already robust performance of the standard XK8 by fitting an Eaton supercharger to the AJ-V8 engine. The first XKR’s were of a 4L capacity but in 2002 that was increased to 4.2L This was enough to unleash a mighty 390bhp, sufficient for a 5 second 0-60 mph time and the ability to reach the limited 150+ mph top speed very soon afterwards.
This example is a beautifully preserved example courtesy of a life on the salt-free roads of Japan. It presents in a totally original condition and benefits from a low original mileage of a mere 48,000 miles. There is a full Japanese service history documented resulting in a rare example that leaves nothing for the new owner to do other than to cherish and enjoy it.

The car was then supplied new via the Jaguar dealer network in Japan
It was first registered in Japan in April 2005

Our example was lightly used and well cared for in Japan until 2022
At the end of 2022 the car was imported to the UK by the current owner
On import the car was fully updated to UK specifications

These are recessed, white on black items and the tachometer bears “Supercharged” branding
A trio of supplemental gauges sit in the centre panel of the dash
These sit behind a multifunction, four-spoke steering wheel
This wheel is also electrically adjustable
The stitched leather centre console houses the automatic climate control unit
This is also home to the Jaguar radio cassette head unit
Original charcoal grey carpets are fitted and are protected by carpet mats
A new headliner has been fitted and is, hence, immaculate

The surprisingly roomy boot is finished in hard-wearing grey carpet

The Mechanics
The This car is fitted with the 4.2L supercharged version of the acclaimed AJ-V8 engine
Designated as the AJ33S, this engine is supercharged and intercooled
This unit was originally rated at 395 bhp and 400 Ib-ft of torque
Power is fed to the rear wheels via a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox
This specification gives this big car a truly astounding turn of speed
A top speed of 155mph and a 0-60 time of around 5 seconds is on tap
Our car has covered a low original mileage and has been well cared for
The under-bonnet condition is very good too
The big alloy intakes carry a “Supercharged” script and data plates are present
The car has recently undergone a full mechanical check and holds an advisory free MOT, too
The car also boasts a full Japanese service history
As such, no known issues have been reported by the owner
Summary
The appeal of this XKR should be obvious to anyone with a whiff of petrol in their veins. A curvy British GT car hiding a very powerful supercharged V8 under a long, curved bonnet is a great place to start, of course. Add into that already heady mix the appeal of our example’s Quartz colourway and its sumptuously appointed leather interior and you have something very appealing indeed. The sublime BBS, split-rim wheels only help to lend the car an extra dose of muscular road presence.
Add to that the reassurance of this being a very well maintained, low mileage car from the salt-free roads of Japan and it becomes hard to imagine a more enticing ownership prospect.
