The Appeal
Few cars do long-legged classic touring quite like a good XK150. Each one left the factory, of course, beautifully styled, supremely comfortable and equipped with the powerful XK motor, but some clever, subtle tweaks make these cars even more suited to modern long-distance travel.
This 1959 DHC benefits from many of them, including power steering, a Getrag 5spd manual box and polybushed suspension. Beneath the extensive bonnet is an ‘S’ specification 3.4L engine equipped with triple SU carburettors.
The car left the works as a coupe, but was rebodied in the 1960s as a drop-head coupe. The engine upgrades were added at the same time, using a ‘crate’ unit. Classically finished in red with a matching leather cabin, it is in really good condition as you can see in the photos.
The vendor acquired the car in 2016 and has entrusted it to Race Ltd for maintenance. The list of work is extensive, including a gearbox rebuild, new shock absorbers, polybushing and fitting quality Vredestein Classic tyres. The car was recently serviced in 2024 with few miles covered since this work.
Well specified and in great running order, this is one for the touring enthusiast who really wants to use and enjoy their XK.
The vendor says:
“Great driving car, ideal for touring or regularity/ classic rallying.”
