The Appeal
The DKW RT 100 is a significant piece of motorcycling history. Powered by a 98cc two-stroke single-cylinder engine, the RT 100 was one of the most widely produced small-displacement motorcycles of its era, seeing extensive service with the Wehrmacht during the Second World War. Surviving examples are increasingly scarce, and their parts are keenly sought by restorers across Europe.
This particular machine is a barn find originating from the former GDR, where it has sat unridden for at least 30 years. It has been modified over its lifetime; the original rigid frame arrangement has been replaced with a rear swing arm using rubber bands, and a larger seat has been fitted in place of the original single saddle. The paint is not original, and while nothing currently functions, the engine reportedly does turn over, providing a foundation for a comprehensive restoration. A collection of spare parts accompanies the motorcycle.
