Highlights
- Rare UK RHD car with 125bhp 3.5L OHV engine
- Matching chassis and engine numbers stated
- Restored circa 2009 with very little subsequent use
- Part of a large private collection between 2015 and 2020
The Appeal
The Mk IV was the first of William Lyons’ cars to be sold under the Jaguar name, but its long, low, and decidedly louche style borrowed from earlier pre-war cars. The combination of name and look set the template for virtually every Jaguar ever since. Most were exported, but this 1947 example is an original UK RHD car, and it is also one of the desirable 31/2 litre cars with the 125bhp OHV engine.
Finished in black with a blue leather interior and black wire wheels, this car was restored around 17 years ago and has been with the vendor since 2020. It was previously part of a large private collection, during which it was carefully stored in a Carcoon. Despite very low use since the restoration was completed, we’re informed it has benefited from ongoing maintenance. It is said to be a matching numbers car.
For anyone seeking an early Jaguar with the 3.5-litre engine and strong provenance points, this Mk. IV makes a very appealing proposition.

Hi, a pretty car. Can the vendor please confirm that the car is in running order as it is not detailed in the description. From the photos, it looks to have been outside for a while and I am hoping it didn't break down and subsequently abandoned. Thanks so much

SellerHi Yh very pretty car… always gets attention..it’s placed outside on sunny days hence the pictures Engine runs fine and drives however if not driven it outside of the grounds bar an handful of times over past few years..due to the old cars having narrow gaps between the clutch and accelerator and break. Makes driving difficult Also it is covered when raining but some days it’s left outside when sporadically rains Maintenance workers drive frequently to make all in working order
