The Appeal
The Alvis TA21 was the marque's first entirely new post-war model, a Mulliner-bodied sports saloon powered by a smooth straight-six engine and capable of approaching 100 mph. Combining dignified styling with genuine performance, it earned a well-deserved reputation as a gentleman's express of the early 1950s - the sort of thing you might see the well-to-do executive hitting top-notch speeds while puffing on a cigar.
This example, first registered in May 1951, is a fitting ambassador, picked out in a handsome black-and-silver two-tone livery that perfectly suits its distinguished character - and, very unusually, having reportedly passed through only three registered keepers from new. It feels like a particularly handsome time capsule, and we expect it'll garner plenty of well-deserved admiration. It's gone through a fine restoration, which only benefits the car further.
The restoration work has since mellowed to an appealing patina, lending the car a well-settled character. Mechanically, it has been updated for modern-day usability, while the cabin retains its evocative leather upholstery and polished wood veneers. A well-documented history accompanies the car, with records and correspondence from previous custodians spanning decades. A genuinely compelling classic - not one to miss!
