The plus
Having started out manufacturing steam locomotives before diversifying into tractors, commercial vehicles and automobiles, the Hanomag brand, based in Hanover, has distinguished itself by its innovative engineering. Its major contribution to agriculture and industry is still too little known today.
Here we present one of the F-series vans, produced at the time of the merger with Henschel, just before the company was taken over by Daimler-Benz. This 1969 F20 E has been converted into a VASP-approved converted van.
The seller tells us:
"This Hanomag F20E is a real UFO for the road. Originally produced by Hanomag-Henschel, it benefits from a rich industrial heritage: in 1969, the brand was acquired by Mercedes-Benz, which still makes it easy to access certain parts compatible with Mercedes L206 and L3 06 models.
But beyond its retro looks and its rarity on the market, this van has been fully fitted out and VASP approved, which means it is recognised as a leisure vehicle that complies with standards. This means you can travel in complete freedom, with maximum safety. This Hanomag is a unique travelling companion, ready for big projects and escapades off the beaten track.
I bought it in 2020 from 2L2D, a professional garage in Breteuil (Oise). With the help of professionals, the vehicle was completely transformed into a VASP-approved motorhome. This is one of its main assets.
The work included cladding, insulation, electrical installation, solar panels and furnishings. This meticulous transformation makes this van a unique model, ideal for vintage enthusiasts wishing to travel legally in a vehicle with undeniable charm.
Stored in a property in the south of France, this van is in good condition. All the mechanics who have examined it have confirmed that it is in excellent condition, although there are still a few adjustments and improvements to be made. It has recently passed the technical inspection and has been inspected by an expert commissioned by Wikicampers. Despite its age, the vehicle has been well preserved. 211e002d-f1e8-494c-a917-2f371c4821bf.jpg901.66 KB
