Hydropneumatic suspension and braking system reported in good working order
The Appeal
The Citroën SM marked the early 1970s with its combination of Citroën's styling and technical innovations alongside a Maserati V6 engine. Derived from the DS yet featuring an entirely new body, it brought together aerodynamics, hydropneumatic suspension, variable-assist steering and grand tourer credentials. Its 2.7-litre V6 delivered performance befitting its premium positioning.
This 1971 example comes from a private collection and is said to have retained a significant degree of originality. Its carburettor-fed Maserati V6 is reported to run correctly. The original brown paintwork shows some signs of use and age-related imperfections, whilst the brown leather interior displays wear consistent with age and natural patina. The bodywork and underside are described as sound by the vendor.
Some targeted modifications are said to have been carried out over the years to improve certain reliability aspects, whilst maintaining the original overall configuration. A very slight hydraulic leak is noted at the rear left and will require attention. The car is offered with its original registration document and without documented service history. A full service is recommended before regular use.104_3383 pieter monteny.JPG2.72 MB
