The Appeal

Cleverly taking its name from its 'Tiger and a half' 749cc air-cooled triple, the Trident was a Triumph masterpiece. As quick as the UJM bikes in a straight line and with better handling than its home-grown rivals, the Trident was a massive success on the track but proved expensive compared to its arch-rival, the Honda CB750.

That red-hot competition blunted sales, making survivors rare. But the T150's engineering and capability have fuelled continuous demand for these bikes, and we expect this beautifully presented example to be popular. Built in 1972 and initially exported, it returned to the UK in 1991 and has had just two keepers since arrival. The seller acquired it in 2020 to join his small marque collection. He tells us that the 8,943 displayed miles is correct, although we can't verify that.

DVLA records indicate that it was restored and repainted around 25 years ago. It presents extremely well, with the lovely dark red metallic paintwork, white detailing and gold pinstripes all in great order. The chrome is bright and the Triumph-branded fittings well kept. Recent maintenance includes fitting a new 5-speed gearbox, and it has been freshly serviced by Trident guru Les Williams.

This is a beautiful example of a wonderful classic Triumph.
