The Appeal
There's just something so darn cool about a '70s 'Vette. Yeah, you heard us, we said "darn" and "'Vette" like true Americans, because this is the sort of car that makes you want to don a pair of cowboy boots, grab a root beer and queue-up a Waylon Jennings record...
The 1973 Corvette Stingray C3 hails from an interesting in the model's long lineage. It was the sole year to pair the newly introduced body-coloured front bumper with the outgoing chrome rear bumpers, creating a distinctive transitional look that was never repeated: chrome rears were discontinued from 1974 onwards. For collectors and enthusiasts, this makes the 1973 a particularly desirable vintage.
This example presents in its original black over red livery, with the interior retaining its classic dashboard, gauges, centre console and working original seatbelts. Removable T-top Targa roof panels offer open-air motoring, and the car is further equipped with a chrome rear luggage rack and chrome wheels. A discreetly fitted Custom Autosound USA-740 stereo replicates the original unit's appearance whilst adding modern Bluetooth and USB connectivity.
Under the bonnet sits the 350 block V8, which retains its original foundation but benefits from a top-end upgrade carried out by the Cobra team in 2022. It is not presented as a fully factory-original matching-numbers car, though the original engine block is available separately for the purist. The vendor reports it is "turn-key", starting instantly and driving well. Imported into the UK in 2020 and now registered on UK plates, this Stingray is an awesome thing. IMG_0195 Olly.jpg834.07 KB
