The Appeal
Reliable and easy to own yet enduringly stylish, Syd Enever’s B is indisputably one of the best classics you can buy. Parts supply is virtually on a par with a new car, while ownership puts you amongst a vibrant community.
This ‘75 roadster was one of the earliest ‘rubber bumper’ cars built, but has converted to more traditional chrome trim, likely during an early 90s restoration and colour change. Now in light British Racing Green with a black leather cabin, it is a very pretty car, much loved by its current keeper.
He acquired the car in 2021 and says it has always been reliable. Use has been limited to the summer, and it has been garaged when not in use. Work has included new brake pads and a refurbished battery tray. Clydesdale Classic Cars in East Kilbride carried out recent maintenance. The car still runs on its original 1,798cc engine, requires fuel additive, and has a 4-speed gearbox with overdrive. We’re told that there is a current issue with the starter motor, which may need to be replaced, together with the battery.
