The Appeal
As the appeal of the R107 continues to broaden from those who want a quality classic roadster to those who want a great addition to their collection, the earlier cars with their purer style are beginning to stand out. These V8-engined cars have neat details like the Zebrano wood that appeal to deep-dive enthusiasts.
This 195bhp 350SL is one of the nicest pre-facelift cars that we’ve seen in a long while. It retains its correct factory colour combination of Silver Blue metallic over a blue MB Tex cabin, now with a darker blue roof. At 91,500 miles from new, it's barely run-in for an M116-engined car, and the condition shows across the paint, body, fittings, and interior.
The vendor acquired the car in 2020 and is only its sixth keeper. Recent work has included a new water pump. Although the car is MOT exempt by age, a current MOT helps buyers and shows no advisories; it runs to September 2027. A really good example of one of classic motoring’s great GTs.
