The Appeal
The Jaguar SS100, built between 1936 and 1940, is one of the most revered pre-war British sports cars. With genuine examples now routinely fetching six figures at auction, a properly executed tribute car is an appealing and accessible way to get into SS100 ownership.
This 1983-built example is built on a Ford chassis and powered by a 2.3-litre Ford inline-four making 89 HP. The vendor says its lightweight build delivers a really involving drive through the manual gearbox. Finished in British Racing Green with gold pinstripes and tan leather trim, it nails the pre-war look, with extensive chrome detailing, whitewall tyres, fog lamps, a wooden steering wheel, and a beige folding soft top to complete the period style.
Imported from the USA to the Netherlands with EU duties and VAT paid, the car comes with a U.S. title and European import documentation. The odometer shows 7,846 miles. With Ford-based mechanicals doing the heavy lifting, sourcing parts and getting it serviced should be straightforward and cost-effective.
