The collection showcases everything from practical classics to high-end collector cars, all carefully curated and stored in purpose-built, climate-controlled storage hangars in Central South Africa's arid climate.

The Appeal
If you're not from South Africa, you've probably never so much as heard of this vehicle, let alone seen one...
That's because this is the Fiat 128 pick-up, or "Bakkie" as it is known locally; a uniquely South African creation. No other market in the world received a utility variant of the much-loved 128, making any surviving example a real rarity. Rarer still, this particular vehicle was built after Fiat's departure from South Africa in the early 1980s, when production shifted to the Alfa Romeo factory outside Pretoria. It therefore carries the distinctive "128 by Alfa Romeo" badging, a fascinating piece of Italian-South African automotive history.
This example has remained in the hands of a single family for over 40 years, kept in the dry interior of South Africa, conditions that have clearly served it well. The vendor describes the body as "pin-straight, rot-free, and never welded". The overall presentation is reported to reflect gentle signs of ageing consistent with decades of careful ownership rather than neglect.
For collectors of unusual Fiat derivatives, oddball pick-ups or Italian curiosities with a South African twist, this is a wonderful find.IMG_1177 Noel Grove.jpeg3.42 MB
