The Appeal
The Hercules Prima 3S is a charming German-made moped from an era when lightweight two-wheelers were the everyday transport of choice across much of Europe. Powered by a 50cc single-cylinder engine paired with a two-speed manual gearbox, the Prima 3S represents accessible, practical motoring in its simplest form.
This particular example has an unusual provenance. Sold new in Duisburg, Germany, it was reportedly acquired without papers as a display piece for a school and has never turned a wheel on the road. The vendor describes it as being in brand-new, unridden condition - a claim supported by inspection of the piston, which shows no signs of the engine ever having been fired. D
espite years of static display, the engine is reported to produce a strong spark and high compression. The exhaust and carburettor, which were the only missing components, have been sourced and fitted with good used replacements, and the airbox is included. A little dusty from its years on display, beneath that sits what appears to be a well-preserved moped awaiting its first proper outing.IMG_2527 Philipp Bergmann.JPEG2.01 MB
