The Appeal
Buyers in the 1990s looking for a convertible Mercedes-Benz had a difficult choice on their hands: R129 vs A124.
The former was glamorous, but the latter arguably made more sense for most people. The A124 is the better choice for someone who wants classic Mercedes cabriolet character for actual daily or regular use; someone who needs to occasionally carry rear passengers and values mechanical simplicity and parts availability from the shared W124 range.
The Sportline edition adds a sportier edge to the package, making it one of the more sought-after variants within the range.
This 1994 example, finished in red with a black roof and full black leather interior, cuts a handsome figure whether the roof is raised or lowered. The vendor rates the car at 9/10 overall for a vehicle now well over 30 years old, and the underside is said to be clean and solid. The alloy wheels have been recently diamond turned, and a brand new front grille accompanies the sale. The vendor reports the convertible roof to be operating as it should. The private registration plate is included in the sale.image.png1.63 MB

However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
