The Appeal
The glorious V6-powered 916 will always be a thing of wonder, but for real-world driving, whether it's about fuel pump economics or B-road fun, it’s the revvy 150bhp T Spark that grabs the win. Much lighter than the V6, this engine maximises the impressive dynamics of the Alfa-fettled ‘Tipo’ chassis.
This 2001 ‘Phase 2’ car is one of the nicest we’ve seen in a long while. These later cars got a much-improved interior, and this one is desirable ‘Lusso’ specification with black leather. We’re told that the car was resprayed recently, which explains the high standard of the exterior, the bodywork and paint presenting well in the usual 916 check areas. The lovely ‘teardrop’ alloys are also very well kept. The presentation is a testament to the car’s long-term keeper.
The history file supports the very low mileage and shows attention by knowledgeable firms like Italia Speed and parts supplied by reputable marque specialists. We’re told that £6,000 has been recently invested, including a new radiator, suspension overhaul and replacement exhaust. The cambelt was replaced 5,000 miles ago but would benefit from changing based on time. The long, advisory-free MOT supports the sense of a sorted car. The vendor states that the car presents in very good order throughout and drives as if it were new.
