The Appeal
When you choose to take on racing royalty like Ducati, you’d best get it right. With the SP1 and then the SP2, Honda did exactly that, with Colin Edwards claiming the World Superbike crown in 2002. The Honda Racing Corporation (HRC)-designed and homologated road bikes closely mirrored the racer, sharing the frame, swingarm, body, and suspension mounts.
The SP2, introduced in 2002, notably improved on the SP1’s ‘light switch’ throttle response, delivering a much smoother feel thanks to 62mm throttle bodies. The frame was stronger and the swingarm lighter too. The bikes were crated from the factory with optional Castrol graphics to replicate the Colin Edwards bike. Not all fitted them, but this low-mileage SP2 has them. The result is an extremely eye-catching race replica.
The bike has been with the current keeper since 2015 and covered less than 18,000 miles in its 23 years. The history file shows regular servicing and other routine work, including fuel system repairs in December 2025. The current MOT runs to July 2027 with no advisories.
Whether you’re here to ride and enjoy one of the greatest superbikes of the modern era, or looking for a low-mileage addition to your collection, this well-kept machine delivers.
