The Appeal
The later 986.2 brought clear front headlights, preferred by enthusiasts; a thicker rear anti-roll bar to sharpen handling; dual exhaust pipes to dial up the aural drama; and a much-improved interior. The sought-after S also got a small power blip, rising to 260bhp.
That list provides yet more reasons to consider this well-kept Seal Grey 2004 car. The larger 3.2S model appeals to the drivers because it properly exploits the Boxster’s brilliant chassis. Here, power is fed through the desirable 6-speed box. It is a nicely specified car - we love the rare Cinnamon leather interior and approve of the switch to tasteful bronze 18in Bolas, which lightly dial up the aesthetics.
The car is in good cosmetic condition inside and out and has been generally well maintained too. The service book shows attention by main dealers and specialists like La Rose and Autostrasse. In June 2020 the car received a new clutch, flywheel and gearbox service from specialist PIE Performance. More recently, a long list of work was undertaken in March 2024, including fitting expensive Koni shocks and Goodridge brake lines. The full list is provided below.
This tidy car comes to market with fresh service and a lengthy, advisory-free MOT to August 2027.
The vendor says:
“This 2004 Porsche Boxster S (986) represents the purest form of Porsche’s open-top sports car ethos. With its 3. 2L flat-six engine, 6-speed manual gearbox, and limited-slip differential, it offers a focused yet usable driving experience. Finished in Seal Grey Metallic with the rare Cinnamon leather interior, this car is both stylish and highly collectible. Recently serviced and in excellent order, it is ready to be enjoyed on road or track.”
