The Appeal
That torquey 2.5L EJ257 300bhp engine, stronger 6spd gearbox, improved steering and a stiffer, more agile chassis all explain why the ‘Hawkeye’ Impreza is the one enthusiasts gravitate to.
The trick when buying any Hawkeye is to find a car like this one - cherished, largely stock, appropriate and subtle upgrades, excellent maintenance and very low mileage. This car, with sub-26,000 miles from new, is a testament to its trio of keepers’ ability to resist its multifold motoring charms.
The vendor acquired this black Hawkeye, with its classic gold alloys, in 2023. He tells us that it has always been garaged and comes with ‘full and complete’ service history according to the seller. Buyers will find invoices for servicing in the photos. It features a Milltek exhaust, adjustable coilovers and a modern Bluetooth head unit. The brake pads were replaced with Brembo units 500 miles ago and it benefits from a recent ceramic coat paint protection. The car will be sold with a new MOT.
The vendor says:
“This is simply a phenomenal car to drive! It rides superbly well (adjustable coil-overs, so can be softened more) and has direct power to the road like no modern car. Incredible feedback from the car and road. DCCD when needed (seldomly taken off auto). The Boxer engine paired with the Milltek exhaust give it the iconic Subaru roar which is pleasant at cruising speeds. It has been owned and cherished and that shows in the mileage and condition, with no expense spared for any servicing (any consumables such as brakes, tyres, battery, oils etc have been changed at the nearest hint of needing it). This is a piece of motoring and rally history which is incredible to drive, turns heads everywhere and still looks like a million bucks driving down the road. I have not owned or seen such a new looking and feeling vehicle in all my years as a passionate and emotional car collector. I will be very sad to see it go but space demands it now and I know whoever buys this will be astounded at the level to which it has been preserved.”
